Position: Board Member
Organization: Association for Supply Chain Management Northern Colorado
Position Summary
The Board of Directors provides thought leadership with setting strategic plans, assessing execution of plans, and making course corrections to meet the needs and evolving opportunities of members, partners, and other stakeholders. Board members are raving fans and have a strong network of relationships in our market area and across the globe.
The value provided by board members is derived from their standing within the community and how their professional experiences provide them the knowledge and insights required to guide our organization in achieving our mission.
Ideally, a person serving on the board will be bringing value back to their own organization, building their professional network, developing their leadership skills, and making friends along the way.

FAQs
What is the annual budget?
Our annual budget for 2019 was about $130,000. The pandemic has seen a dramatic drop in activities and financial performance. We are looking to return to pre-pandemic levels in 2023.
How big is board of directors?
There are currently 3 board members. A new Executive Director will bring the board to 4. There is room to recruit another 4 people.
What is the board term?
3 years.
How many hours does this take?
Ideally, there is one 60-minute board meeting per month, which would require 30 minutes to prepare. Thus, 90 minutes per month.
There are nine networking events per year. However, these should be for personal professional development and are what a non-board member would be doing anyway.
Most of the other activities will be normal things which you already do. Building your network and learning about best practices and trends.
The time invested is about giving back to your community and profession. In the world of non-profits, this is about making a gift of your talent and time to a worthy cause.
